7 years ago we started a business teaching antenatal education, 2-3 years ago we evolved the business into what it is today. Midwives in your Pocket®.

It has been the most natural evolution but the biggest shift in mindset. As midwives we’re constantly thinking of B2C (business to client) so when we were told we needed to switch up our thinking to B2B (business to business) we were like ummm… I don’t know if we can.

In midwifery you have to be selfless. 100% selfless. You’re taught that it’s never about you and always about them.
In business you have to be selfish. Say no, talk money, put your prices up, sell yourself.

One of the many reasons we’re not where we want to be today is purely because we never ever want to get rid of the midwife in us. The qualities that all midwives have - being kind, understanding, doing things for nothing or little in return. It may mean we delay our success (depending on how you define success) but at least we stay true to who we are as people.

We’re business women.
We’re midwives.
But first and foremost and above all else, we’re kind hearted, caring and good people. We don’t need to bring anyone down to raise ourselves up, we don’t need to change who we are.

PREGNANCY 🤰: your pelvis is under so much press

PREGNANCY 🤰: your pelvis is under so much pressure in pregnancy and the hormones being released like Relaxin are going to really bring to the surface all your aches and pains and show you where the misalignments are. You can start seeing a chiropractor any time you start noticing these pains or I’d recommend from 28 weeks onwards.

POSTPARTUM 🤱🏾: never underestimate the pressure your body goes under during labour. All the positions you get into, the way your legs have to widen and open up and sitting in the same spot pushing for so long - it takes it’s toll on your hips, pelvis and back!! The sooner you see a chiropractor postnatal (literally within the first 2 weeks) the better! Relaxin hormone in the first two weeks are highest making it much easier to manipulate the body back into alignment. Don’t hesitate! Book it at the same time you book birth registration 😉

FOR BABY 👶🏿: this is my newest favourite recommendation. Please imagine being PULLED out into the world by your neck. Whether that’s a vaginal delivery, a c section AND especially an instrumental. When we pull and tug on the head and neck the way we do, it causes a misalignment in the baby’s body. This misalignment often effects the nerves and ligaments around the baby’s gut, in turn causing a very colicy or refluxy baby. So if you have a baby who’s suffering with colic, reflux, leaning to one side, even yawning to one side this is your sign to see a chiropractor. And guess what my favourite thing is - suffering with a shallow latch and a baby who can’t open their mouth wide enough for a deeper latch? A chiropractor can solve this!!!

My recommendation and this is NOT an ad. Katie used him through her pregnancy with Raffy, I use him generally and I’ve recommended him to pretty much all my patients. I just think it’s so beneficial to your comfort and your labour to see a chiro in pregnancy!!

Niral Shah at Adam Kay Chiropractor in Borehamwood. If you asked me what is a must in pregnancy, I’d say an appointment with Niral in pregnancy and after and an appointment with baby. @adamkaychiro

This MIYP® client was told her pregnancy just became high risk at the hospital she’s booked with in Qatar. She’s receiving incredible continuity of care by senior doctors and she’s being scanned by the same senior sonographer each time too. This is amazing.
